Well, another transfer came and went. Nuñez and I were preparing ourselves for a third cambio together but she´s outta here! Nuñez is going back to Calama opening a super flaaaaaite sector. The assistant says she and her companion are going to have new rules. I am staying here and my new companion is Hermana Carranza from Argentina. She´s the oldest sister missionary in the mission but I don´t know her very well because she´s been in Arica for the last 8 cambios (since she was born). We have the exact same amount of time but due to racism (), she got here to the field one cambio before me and gets to stay one cambio longer than me. I am excited to work with her. This week was really good. We had a bunch of lessons and were able to find some great new investigators to teach. Chile beat Ecuador and so all the people here are super excited because Chile qualified for the world cup, or something like that. We heard horns honking and yelling for about 2 hours after the game was over. I did an intercambio with my sister in the mission, Hermana Richins, on Thursday and it was really fun. We taught a bunch of lessons and made a bunch of great contacts so it was a very successful day. Unfortunately, for the cambios, the sector closed and was left to the elders, so hopefully the sisters were able to pass all that information along. There was one lesson in particular that was really powerful. The sisters are teaching a woman who was involved in an accident a couple years ago and is now paralyzed from the neck down. She cannot talk or move any part of her body except her mouth and eyes. It is so sad. A while ago they received her as a reference from a member who said that she couldn´t stop thinking about her neighbor. They taught her about the Restoration, and the spirit was really strong, but they didn´t challenge her to be baptized becuase of her situation, but the next time they went, she had communicated to her husband to ask the sisters about baptism, and how she might be able to have a baptism in the Church of Jesus Christ. Pretty incredible right? It reminded me of a quote I heard once that if people TRULY understood the message of the Restoration, they would move mountains to be able to obtain the promises of the gospel. Anyway, that happened about 2 months ago and they have been trying to help her figure out a way to be able to attend church, because Roxanne gets really tired sitting up and cannot do it for a very long time. The key is her husband, and so the sisters have been trying to work with him. However, he is a man who has gone through a lot of pain, and so now jokes around a lot and the minute he feels something, he makes an excuse and leaves. I know that it´s because he´s afraid. We had a good lesson with him and Roxanne and I can only pray that the Elders have as much patience with that couple as the sisters have had. Anyway, thats about all I have time for. I´m glad to hear that everyone, especailly little Charlie, is doing well. Love you all!
