This week was a refiner´s fire. Nuñez calls it the desert of our affliction. I
will share a story that was a tender mercy.
Salomón was doing great for his baptism, even saying that when he thought
about his baptism he got a happy feeling inside. However, crazy things happened
and he didn´t and will not be getting baptized. It was an incredibly rough two
days (thursday
and friday) and we worked through lunch and got home at
the last possible moment to our pensions because we were dealing with a lot of
things related to the problem. Also, on tuesday our bathroom flooded and we
werent able to shower for 3 days and had to use a washcloth and wash our hair in
the sink. Then, on friday, after a long, hard lesson with Salomón´s
mom, we ran out of minutes in the cell phone. We hadn´t showered in 3 days, we
were exhausted, and we couldn´t figure anything out because we had no phone.
Because of all the stress and also cramps, I got to sleep at 4 am
that night. So the next morning we got our stuff and SUPRISE! showed up at the
sister´s pension in our zone and showered. Then we went to a car wash that our
zone did as a service activity. We were supposed to be at lunch at 1:30 but
we ended up being the only ones besides the zone leaders who stayed to clean up
and so at 2:30
we finally finished. Also, we couldn´t go straight to the member´s home because
we had to drop a projector off at the Thomas´ house as fast as we could for the
relief society activity that was going to happen that night. We couldn´t call
the member for lunch to cancel, so we took a micro home, grabbed the projector,
dropped it off at the Thomas´ and then ran about a mile to lunch. It was 3:30 when we got there and we had an appointment at 4
about 2 miles away or so and straight up hill. We ate as fast as we could and
walked up a little hill to catch a micro to go to our appointment. Normally we
walk, but we were really late, and we were so tired that thinking of walking up
that giant hill made me want to cry. But we had also already spend money on two
micros that day and so although it was worth it to us to pay, it was going to
make money tight- end of the month, you know? So we flagged down a number 112,
and go on. When Nuñez went up to pay, the driver said ¨alli no mas¨ which
basically means ¨just leave it¨ or ¨don´t worry about it.¨ It was a really
small act, but to me it meant that Heavenly Father was watching us and taking
care of us, even though it seemed like the weight of the world was on our
shoulders. I know there is a member here in antofagasta that drives a micro,
and if it was him, I know Heavenly Father made it so that he would pass by
exactly when we would need it, and I will be grateful for him for following a
prompting. If it wasn´t a member, I know it was an angel that was sent to us.
860 pesos isn´t really that much money, but as we got driven up that giant hill,
I felt a feeling inside that said ¨I know what you are going through right now
and I´ve shed tears too.¨ It was still a hard weekend, and we´re still dealing
with all of the things that happened last week, but I know that the Lord loves
little Salomón and isn´´t going to let him get lost, even though at times maybe
it won´t seem like that.
I love you all and sounds like you´re all having a lot of fun. I can´t
wait for conference this weekend!
