Oh hey family!
A few funny stories from the week.
One of our recent converts has a incredibly crazy lady that lives in his
¨house¨ and she always wants to talk to us. She´s a total drunk and drug
user and has tons of other problems but we didn´t want to offend her while we
were teaching Yino. In our last lesson, she told us that she wanted to get
baptized! Haha. We thought that was pretty funny (remember, she is
CRAZY) so Joglar started to tell her a couple things she would need to change to
get baptized:
Joglar: ¨there are a few things you can´t take. like smoking.¨
Elizabeth: ¨oh it´s okay! i only smoke myself and i don´t bother anyone
else!¨
Joglar: yeah okay, and the drinking
Elizabeth: okay that´s something I do want help with.
Joglar: and you have to be married to your boyfriend or you can´t get
baptized.
Elizabeth: Perrrrrrro impossible. Okay, how about this. I´ll
get baptized with a TEENSY little lie. How about that?
It was so funny. She´s nuts. And she says ¨pero¨about every
other word so she´s really hard to understand. Later she asked me if I had
a bible and I said no (i never bring the bible- too heavy) but that I had it
memorized in English. She had me quote a scripture in Psalms and I said
¨and verily verily I say unto you, feast upon the words of Christ and be careful
of people who are TOTALLY CRAZY. Crazy people in this world...¨
¨Amen,¨ she said. ¨Amen¨ :)
Also we went to work in a little tiny pueblito that´s many miles away from
Copiapó. It was fun to get out of the sector but we left pretty late and
were a little worried about catching our bus back. After a half hour, we
were getting really worried and I thought I saw our bus so I flagged it down.
We got on board and waited for the lady to come take our monies. No
one came and we realized that I had accidently hitchhiked. Oops!
:)
My spanish has gotten significantly better and I can now understand people
at church! It has gotten way more enjoyable. :)
I love the challenge of reading the BoM in one month. It has been an
awesome experience.
Love you all!
