Well, suprise suprise. I´m staying here with my kid! Haha. I´m excited about it though. This week was really good. We´re working with a couple families that are progressing, although a little bit slowly. We´re working hard to get to know the members better and gain their confidence. I´ll introduce you to an investigator that we have. Her name is Jacquelin and she is about 35 years old. She´s from a real sketchy part of Lima, Peru and has had a lot of challenges in her life that have mostly come from her own decisions. But about 7 months ago she met the missionaries and found the gospel. She started to change some of her habits and has hada HUGE desire to get baptized from the beginning. However, she had been working since then to get organized so that she can live God´s laws. Jaquie goes every single week with her two kids and we have hadthe opportunity so see her grow and develop. I am humbled to see her in the church every week helping the new investigators and sharing the gospel with the people around her. She is already prepared to keep her baptisimal covenants to attend to God´s children. Last night as we visited her, we were able to talk about all of her current issues and she now has a fecha for the 8th of Feburary! She will have her interview in about 2 weeks so please include her in your prayers! She really is such a special lady who needs a lot of support right now to counteract all the temptation that will be coming her way. I gained another testimony this week that God changes hearts. About two weeks ago we had a lesson with a less active member who had always been so kind to us. We´ve been teaching her husband who is not a member, but we found her alone and asked her what her expectations were from us and she basically told us that she had zero expectations from us and had no intentions to return to the church because she already felt really blessed. I asked her how she felt about what would happen after this life and she told me that she really didn´t care all that much. It was a big blow for us, because we had had some really special lessons in that house. We didn´t passby for about a week and when we did, she told us that she had thought a lot about what had happened the last time we were there and she realized that she really did have a lot of questions and that deep down she feels like there is something missing. It was a great testimony to me that God changes hearts, and that people change. She and her daughter went to church on Sunday and we are hoping that her husband, Marcelo, will decide to be part of it. (He has told us that he already has received an answer, but his work schedule slash fear keep him from going to church). The bishop gave an AWESOME talk on Sunday that was so full of the spirit that I think everyone felt like he was talking to them specifically. One thing I learned was when he shared the familiar story of the currant bush. Sometimes in the mission we have the temptation to compare ourselves to other missionaries that are having more success. When bishop told this story, I felt like God was saying to me, I didn´t intend for you to be Elder this or Sister that. I want you to be a currant bush.¨ I know that as we go to church with a humble attitude we will ALways be able to learn something special. I love this gospel. I love the people here. I am dying from the heat and our refrigerator broke, but life is good!LOVEHermana Catron
