Hey family!
I´m sorry about the email last week. This week was a much more
positively eventful week. :)
I bought a skirt awhile ago and it´s really pretty, but just a tiiiiiiny
bit too big. And since I tuck my shirt in, it sometimes falls out and
looks bad. So on tuesday, I put a safety pin in it. However, as I
was walking to go visit one of our investigators, I tucked my shirt in and then
all the sudden felt excrusiating pain could not move my hand! It hurt so
bad but my hand was stuck on my hip and so I couldn´t see what had happened and
I was super confused. Hermana Carranza kept saying ¨we´ve got to do
something!¨ but I kept saying ¨no no no no no no no no¨ and turning in a circle
while she followed me. It´s like we were dancing. Anyway, she was
finally able to see what had happened and the point of the safety pin had gone
into my hand all the way. She took it out but people were walking by us
the whole time and probably thought I was crazy as I was laughing but also had
tears streaming down my face. :)
HALLOWEEN! I totally forgot that it was coming and during personal
study I realized what day it was and shouted HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Nearly
scared my companion to death. It was a pretty normal day until the night
time when we saw so many kids dressed up in costumes. It´s a pretty new
tradition here and a lot of people really don´t like it. We were walking
with a member who is from Colombia and we walked past a house that had a giant
spider and fake hands hung up and she hated it. Kept talking about
how satanic it was. But it was a fun evening as we visited a menos activa
at night and helped her pass out candy every few minutes during the spiritual
thought. I would run to the door and open it and shout HAPPY HALLOWEEN and
everyone thought I was nuts. It was fun. :)
The next day was All Hallows Eve. As a zone we went to the giant
cemetary in Antofa and tried to help people clean off their giant house grave
things but nobody really wanted help. Haha. But we were able to find
47 people that were willing to hear our message another day. I went with a
16 year old and she is so dang prepared for the mission. I was incredibly
impressed. We taught a full lesson at one point and the things she shared
were awesome. The problem was that it was SO HOT. I am going to die
in the summer. One of the elders in my ward got his eyes burned and was
crying from one eye the whole day at church. But hopefully I can find the
pictures from the cemetary because cemetaries here and waaay different.
We went finding this week and found a bunch of cool investigators.
One thing I´ve learned from my companion is to pray so that people can
find US too. And that´s seriously what happened this week. Although
we didn´t have any investigators in church, we really felt God´s hand this week
as we went to places that would randomly pop into our heads and then find
someone totally unexpected. So those we great faith-promoting experiences.
This week is stake conference, which is a half hour away in micro, so
hopefully we can bring people to the conference. We also have to do a
missionary choir- it really is so cool to see how focused the church is in
missionary work.
I love personal study so much. This week I left my scriptures at the
zone activity and didn´t have them for a whole 24 hours and I about died.
I hope I can always feel that way about them!
I love you all! I can´t believe I almost have a YEAR in the mission.
It seems like soooooooo much longer. Haha. But seriously.
I can´t remember what life was like before it.
Read your scrip`tures!"
