Hey family!
This week was a really interesting week for us. ALL of our
investigators were out of town or working all the time so we didn´t see any of
them. So we started to find, and we found a couple really good
investigators!
The best investigator we found is named Osvaldo. He was taught by the
elders about 8 months ago but smokes and so eventually got lost in transfers and
things like that. We found his registro and called him up to see if we
could pass by and he told us that we could! So we went by on Friday and he
was totally prepared to meet with us! He already has a testimony, although
fragile, and his ONLY limitation are the cigarrettes. We had a cool
experience with him though because he was able to feel the spirit telling him
things that we weren´t even saying. I was telling him that maybe the
reason why he hadn´t found his future wife yet was because God was giving him
the chance to have, not just A wife, but an eternal wife and an eternal family.
I thought he wasn´t really paying attention to what I was saying, but then
he looked up and said ¨you just gave me the answer I´ve been looking for all
this time. You said one thing, but your spirit answered my question.¨
It was an amazing experience, and he is determined to give up smoking.
After that experience, I asked him where the cigarettes were and stole
them. So I am now the owner of 8 cigarettes! Haha. I have
pictures but I forgot my memory card. :( The bad thing is that he
works 7x7 so he leaves for the mines today, and based on what the elder said
before, he does GREAT with not smoking here, but when he goes to the mines and
is around all the other miners, he cracks. So pray for Osvaldo!
We did intercambios with Antofagasta Centro this week and I got to be with
Hermana Rindlisbacher again! She came to Angamos and we had a great time,
even though we were forced to drink SO MUCH JUICE. It was funny because a
member filled our glasses with juice and I couldn´t finish mine so Rindlisbacher
saved me and drank it for me. However, when we finished the lesson, he
said ¨wait just a minute!¨ and ran into the kitchen. I had JUST finished
saying ¨it´s fine as long as he doesn´t give us more juice¨ when he came out
with the pitcher of juice and filled us back up. We were laughing so hard.
It was a really fun day being with her again. :)
Also, my favorite part of the week was when we went to visit one of the
recent converts, Estela. She´s about 80 years old and has an incredibly
high voice. We were yelling through the door for a couple minutes and then
we heard her shout ¨I´m coming!!!¨ So we waited until she came and opened the
gate.
Estelita: ¨Sorry! I was in the bathroom!¨
Catron: ¨What? Were you taking a shower or something?¨
Estelita: ¨No! I was going poop!¨
It was sooooooo funny. She´s a feisty little old lady and I love her.
:)
The only other thing that´s fairly interesting is that we had to sing in a
missionary choir for the stake conference and since not very many people can
sing down here, I was forced to sing soprano. You should have seen me
belting the high E at the end of Called to Serve. It was pretty nasty.
:)
Thanks for everything you do for me and for the missionaries and
especially for the obra misional! You will see MIRACLES if you want
to!
Love you!
