¨and this is CRAZY!¨ _Carly Rae Jephson
Just kidding. This won´t be crazy for you guys at all. But seriously,
cambios are the craziest thing.
AND here is what went down- Hermana VanMeter and I are staying in Iquique!
We are SO happy. This is H. VanMeters first time staying with a companion
more than one transfer since she got trained, even though I´m her third kid. We
got home on Sunday night and Hna. Nunez and Gorge were running around with their
heads cut off because Nunez is training (AGAIN- this is her third daughter and
she just completed 6 months on the mission!!!!!) and opening a sector in Calama.
So intense- first sisters in Calama in Years. They baptize like crazy there
though. So excited for her and everything else was crazy too, but we´re staying
and super happy about it.
Okay, most important thing first. The most interesting part of the week
was when we helped out one of our investigators ¨remodel¨her house. You have to
know that all the walls in the houses in Chile are falling apart. The paint is
chipped everywhere and it always looks like it´s being chewed away at. Which it
probably is actually... Anyway, so this lady wanted to fix her wall because it
was looking pretty beat up and so we came to help her. What really happened was
that we poured flour into boiling water to make glue and then we pasted that
brown papery material that comes on the back of sticky stuff over the holes in
the wall Then we took a giant piece of wallpaperadn used that same glue to
paste the wallpaper to the wall. It was so funny. Guarantee she has to do that
every couple years because there is no way that is going to last. Also it
looked SO BAD!! there were tons of air bubbles and she used a knife to cut
around the pipes and stuff. Vive Chile!
I can´t believe that the pope renounced. We really don´t know anything
about it because Chile news coverage of the world is terrible. We did see about
the meteor during lunch- CRAZY! But for the most part- we hear NOTHING about
news outside of the mission. The best quote about the pope thing was that one
Elder said ¨well, the good news is that in 20 years, missionary work here is
going to EXPLODE!¨ So funny.
Our investigators are doing great. We brought another awesome joven to
church and Cristian was such a good fellowshipper! Helping him with the hymns
and saying things like ¨don´t worry- there comes a point where you just KNOW!¨
So awesome. The joven asked him how long he had been a member and Cristian said
¨since last week.¨ He was pretty surprised.
I am so happy to be staying in Iquique. I used to think that it would be
cool to change all the time but I am so happy to still be working with my
investigators.
Love you all!
