This week was super good and I was dead by the end of it. My feet hurt! :)
One funny story was that we were stopped by an old lady and she told us we
could come visit her because she was ¨SO BORED.¨ haha. We talked to her
for awhile but she just kept complaining about how she didn´t have enough money
to pay for the doctor so she could feel better. I started to tell her the
story from conference about the man who was lowered through the roof and it went
down a little like this:
Me: ¨and Jesus said, you´re sins are forgiven you¨ (in a dramatic voice
:))
Her: ¨yeah, okay, and changing the subject.¨
It was pretty funny. Also she just kept asking what things we could
give her for free. We´re not going back. :)
I had a cool experience on saturday with the spirit. We´ve been
trying to figure out what we can do to help these young boys feel more
comfortable around us because we know that they were about to get baptised a few
years ago but now they avoid us everytime we stop by (they live by a recent
convert). We knelt down and prayed about what we could do and all I could
see was us playing soccer in their yard. I´ve never done anything like
that, but I was POSITIVE that it was going to happen. I even wore my ugly
sturdy shoes to the baptism instead of my nicer ones because I was positive it
was going to happen. We were walking on the street by their house and a
man stopped us and asked if he could share with us too (we´ve been sharing with
the dad). Of course he could, but first he was going to play soccer with
the boys in their front yard (that desert wasteland by Yino´s house). He
invited us to come. It was crazy! And super cool. We
challenged the boys to a game and if we won, we got to share a little with
them.
Of course we won. ;)
Anyway, they were still stubborn about everything, so I´m not sure
what will happen, but it was a really cool experience for me to know that the
Lord answers prayers and to know that although they were stubborn and a little
lame, it was what Heavenly Father wanted. It took 3 attempts to get the
plates from Jerusalem, who knows what the Lord is doing. We can only try
and be like Mormon in Words of Mormon 1:7.
I was having a little trouble with motivation awhile ago and our DL showed
us this motivational speech on the mission phone. It´s an old black man
who tells the story of a young man who wanted to earn a lot of money/ be
successful. He takes him out into the water and nearly drowns him.
¨When you want to be successful as bad as you want to breathe, THEN you
will be successful.¨ And of course the man is shouting at this point.
He says ¨i´m here to tell you that most of you say you want to be
successful but you don´t want it bad. You just kind of want it. You
don´t want it as bad as you want to party. You don´t want it as bad as you
want to be cool. Most of you don´t want it as bad as you want to sleep!
Some of you want SLEEP more than you want success! (guilty). And I´m
here to tell you that if you really want to be successful, you have GOT to be
willing to give up sleep.¨ And then later ¨you´re already in pain, Get a Reward
from it!!¨
Anyway, it´s awesome. A little intense, but I listen to it every
single day before we leave to work and it´s helped me a ton.
The other great part about the week was that we had interviews with
President! My first and last with President Bruce, but it was awesome.
We talked about the Priesthood.
THANKS to everyone who has written me! It was a GREAT pouch week.
Mom thanks for all the postcards. You´re right and I was wrong- I
love getting them here on the mission. And I finally got Kaitlan´s
announcement! Woohoo!
Love you all!
