Saludos de Angamos, Antofagasta!
This week has been really good here in Angamos. We have some good
people that we are working with. The ward is HUGE- about 150 people come
every week. I was blown away by how much noise there was. It{s way
different than I expected. I havent seen the part that{s the most south,
which nobody works in because it{s so cuico, but as far as the rest, it{s cuico
but not overly so. However, one example of the cuiconess- on
Saturday a family took us out to eat and we (the 6 missionaries)
went to a Braillian restaurant. We were waiting for the elders and the
hermano saw a man working on his antique car and stopped suddenly and went out
to talk to him. He came back and said [he says he{ll sell it to me for 6
million pesos!!] and almost bought it there on the spot. I think
he{s going back later to buy it. It was so funny. And just so, so
different than Chañarcillo...
Working with Nuñez has been a great experience. I am learning a lot.
We teach really differntly and so it has been interesting to work on
meshing how we teach together. I am praying for a baptism for my birhtday.
The ward is great about giving references, but it{s a big struggle to get
people to church. I{m not sure why though because everyone in the sector
has money.
I got sick this week for the first time in the mission (unless you count 3
strait months of diarreah in Iquique ;)) and so I acutally don{t really
remember all that much from this week. I was pretty out of it Saturday and Sunday. We don{t have to walk very much in this
sector, but there are a ton of stairs. I{m starting to wear slightly cuter
missionary shoes because I don}t have to walk nearly as much. Woohoo!
A lady told us this week in a lesson, [I{m catholic and I{m not goign to
change. Want to know why? Because (in the catholic church) nobody
obligates me to do anything!!] Nice. Haha.
Another lady said that when Christ was growing up (because we don{t know
what he did between 12 and 30 years of age) He was in the Americas fixing
everything in the church here and that{s when He called Joseph Smith as a
prophet. And that{s why there hasn{t been a flood since Noah. Haha.
Looks like Angamos will be fighting against some apostasy. :)
Anyway, I have no time because I was figuring out pictures!
Love you!
