Hey family,
I'll email you for real later but just wanted to let you know that I'm
going in for a root canal in an hour or so. This week has
been rough because while it used to be just at nights that i would feel it, I've
been feeling it all day every day this week, to the point where I wouldn't be
able to talk in our lessons or get anything out of my studies. Haha. It was a
HUGE tender mercy that I was able to get an appt today because the other person
they called wasn't going to be able to get me in until the 7th of January!
What? That would have delayed my leaving date. It might still be delayed- not
sure. But I've been taking 3 IBUs and 2 Tylenols 4 times a day. Whoa. No
wonder 1 IBU a day wasn't doing anything. ;)
Anyway, pray for me! I'll let you know how it goes!
Love,
Hermana Catron

i got my root canal. it went well and they gave me a permanent filling.
Eventually I have to get a crown, but they said it's up to me when I get one. I
could wait 18 months and just not bite on hard things during that time so it
doesn't fracture, or I could get one now. It would take awhile and I don't
think I'd be able to leave on my departure date if I got one now- since it takes
3ish weeks. It wouldn't be a problem to not bite on hard things since I don't
even bite on chips on that side and I haven't for like a year. What do you guys
think?

The "real" Letter for this week...
Chile is fast approaching! Hopefully anyway. I don't have too much to
report this week. I just went and got a root canal and it was splendid. It
wasn't so bad and hopefully it will solve all the toothaches. I'm excited to
get back to uninterrupted study!
Other than that, life since Christmas has been mostly just snow. It has
snowed probably about a foot or so. All the benches are covered and you can see
bum prints from where the Elders sat.
Just to finish up Christmas- "It's a Wonderful Life" was amazing! It was
the first time that Hnas Batista and Chung had seen it, along with half my
district and so it was so fun! I've learned to appreciate this movie a lot in
the last few years but this time was so much more special. You don't realize
how funny it is until you watch it with 2000 other people. And it was so great
to see how many lives George Bailey touched right as we leave on our missions.
You could just feel everyone's happiness as they watched it.
Speaking of which- I've gained 10 pounds. Nice.
This morning we went and cleaned the temple. It was cool, but it's the
last day of cleaning before it reopens and so they really didn't have much for
us to do. We ended up only staying about 40 minutes, but it was cool to get the
experience of cleaning the Lord's home.
Kate- HAPPY MARRIAGE TOMORROW! I know there's almost zero chance you'll
read this- you probably have more important things to do- but I love you and I
am so happy for you!!! Mom and Dad, Happy Anniversary!
Mom- Happy Birthday next week! I can't wait to hear about all the
fantastic things Dad does for you. :D
Thanks for the package. I haven't opened it yet because it's such a
special ocasion to get a package and I want it to last as long as possible.
I'll probably do it today though- I'm excited! And thanks for sending me
pictures- that was really meaningful- even though they were like all of me.
Hahaha. "Hey guys, I mean Elders and Hermanas. Do you guys want to see some
pictures of me?" They all loved the girls camp troll one.
We've had subs all week and one of ours talked with Hna Chung and I for a
long time while everyone else was teaching or having a meltdown and I asked him
about the quote you sent from Adam's email- "If missionaries really understood
the Atonement, they would have no desire to be disobedient." He shared a quote
from his mission president that said "If you ever don't feel like doing the
work, apply the Atonement in your life." I am excited to study this an apply
this quote, becuase Hno. W bore such a strong testimony of it and I knew it was
true. We can't understand everything about the Atonement, but it is there,
ready to strengthen us, ready to help us! It's like that quote in A River Runs
Through It- "You can love completely, without completely understanding it." I
know that the Atonement affects us deeply, even if we don't completely
understand it. And how much better would it be if we really did understand
it!?
Another thing that was interesting. Hna Chung and I have two investigators
that don't have a belief in God. In PMG it asks us to read Alma 18 and Alma 22
and compare them. It was amazing! I challenge you to read it and notice the
comparrisons of what they teach and then compare it to what the first two
lessons are in PMG. It's pretty sweet.
I love you all!
Hermana Catron
p.s. I'll have a few minutes on the computer during laundry time for mom
and dad to get back to me so if you have any updates or pictures from christmas,
i'd love to see them! LOVE YOU!
