She didn't get to write on her normal P-day as they were in training - getting ready to leave for Chile.
Oh hey!
I cannot believe I am leaving on MONDAY! Finally!
This week was really good. Lots of tender mercies from Heavenly Father so
thank you everyone for praying for me. It was kind of a weird week because we
lost pretty much all of our investigators except one because of the semester
change, but he is my favorite so that was okay. We practiced contacting a LOT
this week- I cannot wait until I feel semi-competant at that because I just
cracked up several times.
Tuesday morning we woke up to the loudest fire alarm I have ever heard. We
all got up and had to go sit in the gym in 19M for an hour at about 4 am. It
was hilarious. About 200 girls in their PJs laying on the gym floor trying to
get to sleep. Unfortunately, we still had to get up at 6:30 so that day was a
little tiring.
In-field orientation was yesterday! I actually really enjoyed it- mostly
it was a whole day of workshops about working with members and contacting and
faith. They did a good job making it interseting. I got to be in their play at
the end. They had me be the Relief Society President and pretend like I was
trying to give the Elders a hug before they stopped me. I did a fantastic job-
practically broadway!
So I have the list of people who are in my travel group and I have been
trying to find them all week. I have never seen them but one day I saw one of
their coat's hanging up and so I walked around trying to slyly spot them.
Didn't work at all and everyone was telling me I was creepy so I stopped. But
then yesterday at in-field a few Elders approached me and asked if I was going
to Antofagasta! They found me! Ha! The best part was that
they saw my coat hanging up in the cafeteria too. See people, this is a normal
thing to do. :)
This week I have studied a lot about faith. Your faith can influence the
outcome of so many things! Yesterday in in-field there was a quote that said
"Miracles are the natural result of correct application of true principles."
Isn't that cool!? Read the Bible Dictionary pasages on faith and miracles
because they are amazing! The only reason miracles may have stopped to happen
is because of our unbelief. We must have confidence that God's ways are higher
than our ways and that he works in a different sphere of laws and power than we
do. If we understand that, we will be ready to expect miracles in our lives and
in the lives of the people around us. God is preparing the hearts of His
children to recieve His gospel. THIS is His work and His glory- to bring to
pass the inmortality and eternal life of His children. He wants so badly for
all His children to return unto Him. We should all be like Ammon and his
brothers- not bearing that one soul should perish without knowing the plan that
his Heavenly Father has for him. This gospel is so perfect. Callie- thanks for
sharing your goal with me about trying to get to know people in the community
better- I LOVE that! I hope that you will pray to know how to share the message
of the Restoration with them and to know who is ready to meet with the
missionaries, because every person on the Earth needs this message. Heavenly
Father and his angels (Alma 13:24 I think) are preparing their minds and placing
them in your life for a reason.
I can't speak Spanish and I'm going to die when I get to Chile, but I know
Heavenly Father will strengthen me. I appreciate all prayers!
Thank you for all that wrote me my last few fays in the MTC. We don't get
Dearelders on Saturday nights so I won't get anymore while I'm here (aka if you
write them I won't get them). Thank you especially to Stephanie, Kate, and
Kaity.
I love you all!
